Matt Kofroth

Matt Kofroth serves as Assistant District Manager at the Lancaster County Conservation District, where he brings more than two decades of experience in watershed conservation and community engagement. Before stepping into his current leadership role, Matt spent over 22 years as a Watershed Specialist, playing a central role in fostering grassroots watershed associations, guiding volunteer efforts, and advancing local water resource improvements. He has led stream restoration projects, organized watershed education events, and helped develop strategic resources like the Lancaster Watersheds website to support conservation work countywide.

In his expanded role, Matt supports district operations, provides leadership for staff, and contributes to the implementation of conservation programs that protect soil, water, and related natural resources. His collaborations with partner organizations have strengthened community-based efforts to improve stream health and water quality throughout Lancaster County.

Matt’s long-standing commitment to clean water and conservation has also been recognized regionally, including receiving the Watershed Champion Award from the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay for his impactful work engaging volunteers and advancing watershed initiatives.
