Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice

The Lancaster Clean Water Partners joins the broader environmental and conservation community in standing in solidarity with the Black community, not just now during this time of civil unrest following the death of George Floyd, but every day.

We believe equal access to justice and clean water are human rights. Our vision of clean and clear waterways means healthy local streams for all Lancastrians, but particularly those that have historically had unequal access to it. Our collaborative work is intended to amplify the diverse voices in our community demanding environmental and social equity – but we need to do more.

The Black community has our unwavering attention, voice, and dedication in demanding justice.

Without justice a community’s thirst  cannot be satisfied. Without clean water our community will not thrive. Both require constant commitment and renewal of purpose.

As a collective effort that requires multiple perspectives, we have a stronger and louder voice together for equitable and inclusive impact. We ask our partner organizations: How are you speaking up? How are you using your voice to stand with the Black community?

The systems in this country that enable and perpetuate racism need to change. Use your voice to stand up for Black communities and the Black Lives Matters movement – speak out to your stakeholders, genuinely listen and respond, and continue to learn and ask questions. Not saying anything is not an option.

Our commitment is more than just words

The Partners commit to the following actions to intensify diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice work in our Lancaster communities:
